The School Council has 16 members from KS1 and KS2 classes. In KS1 the children are selected to represent their class by their class teachers. In KS2 the children are elected to represent their class by their classmates. The School Council meets every term, so there are 6 meetings per year. At the meetings the children put forward suggestions from their classmates what they would like to see happening to support the school.
Mrs. Ratcliffe and Mrs. Spedding-Blyth help run the School Council meetings with the School Council Chair and assist the children in implementing any actions.
The School Council have a traffic light system for suggestions. All suggestions are submitted to Mrs. Hartland Smith who then marks each suggestion with a Red, Amber or Green. As the traffic light system suggests:
Red= suggestions that are not possible
Amber= suggestions that are possible
Green= suggestions that have the go ahead.
