Year 6 Parents/carers – Please ensure that you clear all debit balances before Monday 17th July. Thank you

14th July 2017

Dear Parents,

As the end of term, and the end of another academic year approaches, we have had the pleasure of being entertained by our Years 5 and 6 in their end of year production ’ Robin Hood and the Sherwood Hoodies’. It was with great pride that staff and parents watched our children sing and perform on stage in one of our best productions ever; it was simply superb!

The children have had a busy and fun morning in their new classes, meeting their new class teachers. They will be doing the same again on Monday afternoon. Parents/carers are invited to come along to meet their child’s new class teacher on Monday between 3:30pm and 5:30pm.

Year 3 trip- The children had a lovely time at Tropiquaria and the rain didn’t put them off. They saw lots of rainforest animals, including tapirs, lemurs, frogs and parrots and even got to hold a python. Their behaviour was amazing and they were a true credit to the school especially during the long coach journey.

Please Note: From September we will no longer be selling drinks at lunchtime, this is to encourage healthy living. Please do not bring in fruit drinks from home. Water will of course be provided at lunchtime. Every child should have their water bottle in school every day.

Mrs Hartland Smith Farewell Picnic – Parents are invited to bring along a little picnic to share with their child/children at 2:45pm on Wednesday 19th July to say a fond farewell to Mrs Hartland Smith. Weather permitting we will be on the field.

Medicines – All medicines will be coming home on the last day of term, including inhalers. Please make sure your child brings any medicine they need at school back in on the first day of the new school year, Wednesday 6th September. Thank you

Millionaires Club

Yesterday the Accelerated Reader Millionaires club held their celebratory lunch. They all had a great time drinking ‘Butter Beer’ and enjoyed a lunch of sandwiches, strawberries, millionaires shortbread and delicious cupcakes! We are proud to say that this year's lunch club was attended by 35 of our children, including this year's dedicated team of junior librarians!

Reading Books

It is now time to return your reading books to school for a summer stock check. Please take a look at home for any other library books or reading books that may have been borrowed throughout the year and have not yet been returned. Mrs Beale will be speaking with each class and giving reminders to all of the children with overdue books. All library books need to be returned using the library computer and not simply placed in returns boxes. A charge may be incurred for any unreturned books.

Author Visit

We are excited to be welcoming author, Amy Sparks, to our school on the afternoon of Monday 11th September. Amy will be holding an hour long session with the children from years 2, 3 and 4, where she will talk about her books. Amy will also be happy to meet children personally and sign copies of her books. Book signings provide a wonderful opportunity for the children to meet an author, ask questions and have a book signed to remember the day by.

A separate letter will come home today with details of the books and prices should your child wish to purchase a book through the school.

Vacancies:

·         We are looking to recruit a lunchtime supervisor. If you are interested please ask at the school office for further information and an application form.

·         We are looking to recruit a cleaner to work 12 ½ hours week ALL year round (3:30-6pm) daily. If you are interested in this position please ask the school office for further information and an application form.

Top Table - This week Abigail, Sam, Archie, Neve, Alannah and Poppy (from Starling class) have been chosen by the lunchtime supervisors to join the ‘Top Table’ for having super behaviour, good manners and using their cutlery well (if they have hot dinners). Well done everyone!
