Newsletter 3

To clear up any confusion from the dates for diaries last week, there will be a Year 3/4 carol concert at the start of the Christmas Fayre on Friday 1st December at 3:30pm.

Dear Parents,

Thank you to those children who put forward letters for the Head Girl and Head Boy roles; they made very interesting reading. I’m pleased to announce the position of Head Girl goes to Kalia (Robin class) with two Deputy Head Girls, Abi (Robin class) and Daisy (Woodpecker class). The position of Head Boy goes to Archie (Woodpecker class) with Deputy Head Boy, James (Robin class). Well done to you all.

I’d also like to say well done to the following children who have been chosen to represent their houses as house captains:

Ospreys – Alannah and Rhys;

Falcons – Ethan S and Hayley

Eagles – Courtney and Oliver W

Kestrels– Ellie C and Joe

School Council News

Our new school council members are: Harrison (Yr6); Ellie O (Yr6); Harry (Yr6); Lily (Yr6); Ruby (Yr5); Joseph P (Yr5); Tyler C (Yr5); Erin (Yr5); Jasmine (Yr4); Elijah (Yr4); Ester (Yr3); Curtis (Yr3); Ellis (Yr2); Freddie (Yr2); Louis (Yr1) and Mila (Yr1). We have not yet chosen our charities to support this year but will keep you updated.

Windsor Castle – Year 5 and 6 enjoyed a marvellous visit to Windsor Castle on Thursday. The children attended workshops to investigate the different styles of monarchy from King Henry VIII to Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II. They also visited St Georges Chapel and were able to see the tombs of many members of the Royal Family from Edward III to the Elisabeth the Queens’ Mother. Many thanks to parents for dropping the children off early and collecting a little later than usual. The children experienced a highly enriching day.

ParentPay - Unfortunately there are still some large outstanding debts on some children’s dinner accounts. Please check your child’s account on ParentPay over this weekend to clear any outstanding debts. We will be sending letters home early next week to those who have not cleared their balances advising them that their child can no longer have school dinners until the balance has been cleared. Please contact the school office if you are having difficulties paying so that we can come to some arrangement. The pressure on the school budget is such that we can no longer allow a build-up of debt, however small it might appear to an individual family.

Free School Meals - All children in Reception, Year One and Year Two are automatically entitled to universal free school meals. However if you think that due to your circumstances you may be entitled to free school meals please use the new online checker which will give parents an instant decision on eligibility. The free school meal entitlement only lasts for one school term so parents need to apply every term break and for each child individually. The new checker can be found at www.nsomerset.gov.uk/fsm

Influenza Immunisation – If you have not already done so please return your consent forms to the office as soon as possible for Reception to Year Four. They will take place during the school day on Friday 17th November.

Parents Evening

We are planning to extend the time given at Parents Evening to allow more time to discuss your child/children’s learning. The appointments will now be 15minutes long. We will be starting the Parents Evenings at 2:00pm and they will run until 6:00pm. We expect where possible for pupils to attend.

We will have a limited crèche facility for siblings.

We will be using the ParentMail system for bookings; this will be live early October. If you are not already registered with ParentMail you will receive a text or email notification asking you to sign up to the system early next week. Please ensure you do this before the end of September. Thank you
