Mead Vale Primary School is now closed. We remain open between 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday, for children who are identified as vulnerable and children whose parents are critical to the COVID-19 response, as defined in government documentation.
Following a rise in COVID-19 cases in Weston-super-Mare and the precautionary closure of local A&E provision, Trustees have decided to delay the wider reopening of ELAN schools to children in Preschool, YR, Y1 and Y6 by one week.
This will be reviewed by trustees on 4th June. Confirmation of specific year group opening dates, times and procedures will be conveyed to parents and carers following this review.
We were delighted to be awarded the Platinum Sainsbury's School Games award this summer. We are one of only two schools in North Somerset to have received this award.
To be eligible to apply for the award, you must achieve Gold level for 5 years in a row, so this was the culmination and reward for huge collective effort from the staff here at Mead Vale. We have been working really hard to put health and fitness at the forefront of our thoughts, doing everything we can to encourage our children to lead a healthy, active lifestyle ensuring that they are getting at least the government's recommendation of 60 minutes of activity every day.
Last year saw us have our highest ever number of children attending after-school sports clubs, sports coaches providing further opportunity for purposeful physical activity at lunch times, the most children we have ever had attending sports events or festivals outside of school (through either ELAN or the NSSPEA events) and we fully integrated the Daily Mile into our school day.
We have worked really hard to promote the importance of health and fitness within our school. The platinum award was a great reward for our hard work and we look forward to continuing on our positive journey.
The Primary Science Quality Mark - Bronze Level
The Primary Science Quality Mark is an award Scheme to enable primary schools across the UK to evaluate, strengthen and celebrate their science provision. We are proud to announce that we have achieved this award in 2016. We are one in only a handful of schools in the South West to have achieved this mark.
