Newsletter 1 - 08.09.17

8th September 2017

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the new school year whether you have been at the school for a few years or like me you have just joined us. It has been a delight to see some familiar faces return to Mead Vale. The children (and the staff) have settled wonderfully well into their new classes. I wish everyone a very happy successful year.

Curriculum Newsletters for each class giving you more information about what the children will be learning this term, along with proposed dates for events during the school year, will be coming home within the next two weeks.

Parent Information:

Inhalers-Please may we remind all parents of children who suffer from asthma, to bring inhalers into school to be kept in children’s class rooms, new medical forms will also need to be completed to keep our records up to date.

Hairstyles and Gel/puttyMay I please remind parents that hair gel and/or putty is not allowed in school. Hair accessories must be of school colours and kept to a minimum (no large jo-jo bows).

Lunchtime drinks- We are no longer selling drinks at lunchtime; this is to encourage healthy living. Please do not bring in fruit drinks from home. Water will of course be provided at lunchtime.

Absences– Please may I remind you to telephone the schools absence line on the first day of your child’s illness.

Collecting children-Please may we also remind all parents to inform the class teacher if a different adult will be collecting their child at the end of the day

Water Bottles-It is essential that all children bring in their water bottles daily please.

Lost Property– The lost property box is now situated near the main gate, please feel free to check this on a regular basis.

Gate times– The gates will be open from 8:40am until 8:50am and again at the end of the day from approx3:12pm until 3:30pm. If your child arrives late to school please ensure they come through via the school office, thank you.

ParentPay– Unfortunately there are still some outstanding debts from the last academic year. Please can we ask for any debts to be cleared promptly; those that continue to not clear their balances may not be able to continue having dinners or attending breakfast/after school clubs. The pressure on the school budget is such that we can no longer allow a build-up of debt; however small it might appear to an individual family.

Music Tuition - Guitar lessons will be commencing from next Friday, 15th September. Please can you make sure they bring their instruments into school every Friday. Thank you.
