Friday 5th March 2021
Today is the last day of online learning and we are so excited to welcome everyone back on Monday.
ONLY 3 MORE SLEEPS!
World Book day 4th March 2021
We had great fun on World Book Day. Children at home and at school could choose from a range of book themed activities, including a quiz, learning to draw like illustrator/author Rob Biddulph, design a book token, prepare a powerpoint presentation on their favourite book and we also looked at two new texts - How to Tame a Human Tornado By Paul Tobin and The Boy at the Back of the Room by Onjali Q Rauf. We also challenged everyone to read somewhere new! Some people dressed up. Mrs Bonney and Ms King went with the Harry Potter theme.
'Screen Free Friday!' - 5th February 2021
On Friday, all children in Year 5 enjoyed a day of 'screen-free' learning. Here is a look at what our key worker children did during their time in school.
Our activities for the day included:
We've had lots of lovely messages from children and parents at home saying what a lovely day they had too!
We are counting down to Christmas in year 5. We have an ELAN advent that we open each day. We have had treats such as hot chocolate and games such as Santa says... I wonder what it will be on our last day?
The year 5 team would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas. Look out for our Christmas treat for you all via social media.
Stay safe! See you in January!
Ms Edwards came in to say goodbye to Kingfisher Class. She brought in a lovely basket full of gifts for the class. We will miss her but wish her well with her next adventure.
We are also saying goodbye to Ms Reynolds. She has been so helpful and kind to Kingfisher Class. Good luck with your new school!
Miss Merriman joins Kingfisher Class from January. She has taught most of the children previously in KS1. We are very excited to have her as part of the year 5 team.
PE Term 2
As well as completing the daily mile and taking part in challenges set by Mr Molland, year 5 are learning Hockey skills.
Year 5 have been really busy learning how to access online learning. This will help if we have to isolate or work from home. We have been using Teams and One note.
At least once a week, each class uses the chrome books and most of our learning is completed on them. Sometimes headphones are needed as teachers can record audio messages to explain tasks or we might need to watch videos. There is also the opportunity to turn text into audio using immersive reader.
The children have taken to this new way of learning really well and hopefully can demonstrate more at home. Their logins are generally in their reading records.
