Mead Vale Uniform:
All dresses and skirts should be knee length
During Years 3 and 4, the children go swimming on a half-year basis at Hutton Moor Pool. They will need a:
Jewellery, Piercings and Watches
No jewellery would be our preference, but if a child has their ears pierced then, for safety reasons, only small plain studs should be worn when at school and during school swimming lessons these earrings would need to be either removed or covered with medical tape or plasters. Watches may be worn and must be removed for any physical activity.
Any pupil with long hair, touching shoulders or longer, is required when in school, for safety reasons, to have their hair tied back. Hair should be tied back with basic accessories of school colours.
We ask that all parents/carers check their child’s hair for head lice at a minimum of twice a week, once at weekends and once midweek.
At Mead Vale Primary School, we are proud of our school uniform. It plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of our school, supports all the children to feel part of the Mead Vale family and sets an appropriate tone for learning.
Items with the school logo can be purchased through our uniform supplier NK Sports families wish to choose this option but it is not an essential requirement – see the link below for the online shop.
We are committed to meeting the DfE’s (Department for Education) recommendations on costs and value for money. Every care is taken to ensure that our uniform is affordable for all current and future pupils, and that the best value for money is secured through reputable suppliers which we review regularly.
Non-branded is OK
The school keeps branded uniform items to a minimum and they are not a requirement. We encourage families, especially those with children in Reception, Y1 and Y2, to purchase plain, unbranded uniform. This is cheaper and better suited for children when they are growing quickly and getting messy during self-led play.
Items of unbranded school uniform in our school colour can be purchased easily and cheaply from a wide selection of local shops and supermarkets.
The school welcomes donations of any outgrown or unwanted school uniform still in a usable condition so that we can support families with accessing items of pre-loved school uniform as well as cutting down on waste. Should you find that you need any help with uniform, please contact the school office on:
Hope Uniform Exchange
Hope Uniform Exchange is a charitable organisation that is run by volunteers in Weston-super-Mare to support families with accessing school uniform and P.E. kits. This project is the perfect solution for families struggling with the ever increasing cost of providing school uniforms and while they are supporting families to avoid a financial burden, they are also recycling/reusing items that would otherwise have gone to waste or to the landfill.
